Management of Pica in an Adult male German shepherd: A case study

ABSTRACT
A dog weighing 45 kg was presented with symptoms of vomiting, painful defaecation and straining during urination. Pica was diagnosed from history of eating stones, clinical signs and radiographic findings of foreign materials impaction with opaque density consistent with stones within the abdominal cavity. Treatment involved the administration of analgesic, aluminium trisilicate salt, magnesium trisilicate tablet, fluid therapy and multivitamin with notable improvement after 2 weeks of treatment.
