Evaluation of the Effects of the Administration of Lamstreptocide® And or Gentamycin as Treatment Options in Bovine Dermatophilosis: A Case Report

ABSTRACT

This study discusses diagnosis and management of dermatophilosis in a herd of White Fulani and Fulani-Bokoloji crossbred cattle. All cattle had dermatitis lesions with hair loss, crust or scab lesions on head, neck, dorsum, sides of the body and the udder. Giemsa staining of skin scrapings revealed characteristic rail road track arrangement of the etiologic organisms. Affected cattle were treated using either a topical application of lamstreptocide® A and B, and or the parenteral administration of Gentamincin. Affected cattle responded well to all the treatment options, and no adverse reactions were exhibited during the treatments.
